Thales Trusted Cyber Technologies Announces Launch of CipherTrust Manager k160 Mk II, Delivering Enterprise-Grade Key Management to the Edge

April 20, 2026

Thales Trusted Cyber Technologies (TCT), a trusted U.S. based source for cyber security solutions, today announced the launch of CipherTrust Manager k160 Mk II, a new generation, compact cryptographic key management platform designed to extend enterprise-grade data protection from the core and cloud to the tactical edge.

Building on the original CipherTrust k160 appliance, the CipherTrust k160 Mk II delivers powerful key management capabilities in a small form factor, measuring only 7” x 4.3” x 1.65”, allowing it to be easily deployed in any environment—from satellite offices to forward operating bases to mobile flyaway kits.

Mission Focused Security, Rooted in a Removable Token HSM

CipherTrust k160 includes a detachable token hardware security module (HSM) that serves as a secure root of trust for key generation, storage, and encryption processes. Removal of the token HSM enables users to quickly disable key delivery, functioning as a “kill switch” for shielding mission critical data during high risk operations.

Enterprise-Grade Key Management, Anywhere

CipherTrust k160 integrates with the broader CipherTrust Data Security Platform portfolio enabling a unified, enterprise-wide cryptographic key management strategy. With a consistent user interface across deployment types, organizations reduce operational complexity and eliminate training overhead for distributed teams.

Key platform capabilities include:

  • Full key lifecycle management with automated operations
  • Centralized administration and access control
  • Multi‑tenancy with separation of duties for large organizations with distributed locations or multiple organizations hosted by Managed Service Providers (MSP).
  • Developer-friendly REST APIs for easy integration and cryptographic operation offload
  • High‑availability clustering and intelligent key sharing across physical or virtual appliances
  • Capacity to store up to 10,000 symmetric keys
