On December 17, 2017, Thales announced its intent to acquire Gemalto, SafeNet Assured Technologies’ (SafeNet AT) parent company. The transaction officially closed on April 2, 2019 making Gemalto an official part of the Thales Group.
This is an exciting and decisive time for Thales and Gemalto. Together, we are creating the worldwide leader in digital security, protecting more data, transactions and identities than any other company and enabling tens of thousands of organizations to deliver trusted digital services to billions of individuals around the world.
As a result of the merge, Thales now has two groups that had previously served our US Federal customers. These two groups—SafeNet AT and Thales eSecurity Federal (TeS Federal)—offer mostly complementary products and will continue to provide our customers maximum choice and continuity. Both groups report into Thales Defense and Security Incorporated (TDSI), a long established US Proxy company serving many US Government customers with classified and unclassified products. As part of the TDSI Proxy both companies will continue to be protected from Foreign Ownership Control and Influence (FOCI). TeS Federal will offer Thales/Gemalto standard products while SafeNet AT will focus on providing its core products per the CFIUS National Security agreement it falls under which requires additional fire-walled separation.
SafeNet AT will continue to offer the broad spectrum of products and services that our customers enjoy and we will increasingly capitalize on the significant research & development capabilities of our combined companies.
Our commitment to our customers will not change as a result of this exciting combination of two global leaders in data protection. Contact info@safenetat.com with questions or concerns.
